Who We Are

Great Smoky Mountains Association supports the perpetual preservation of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the national park system by promoting greater public understanding and appreciation through education, interpretation, and research.

Since its inception in 1953, the Association has provided over $30 million worth of assistance to the park.

The Association is a private, nonprofit organization. Similar nonprofit park partner organizations operate throughout the national park system and offer reciprocal benefits to fellow associations and their members.

Support for the Association comes primarily from sales of educational products and from membership dues. Anyone who loves the Smokies and wishes to become more closely involved with the park is encouraged to become a member.

Members of Great Smoky Mountains Association receive a number of benefits intended to increase their enjoyment and understanding of the Smokies. The Association believes that better awareness and understanding of the park increases public resolve to protect and preserve it.
